Dr. Mary, along with her husband Dr. Richard worked in the cancer research lab at the University of Kansas, where for 1-2 years she was the primary lab technician. She has several joint publications on the treatment of Human Cancer Cell lines and Rat tumors and was involved in radiation and chemotherapy projects.
She now sees patients 3 days a week while also managing the medical office, occasionally also hosting Medical Students and Residents from training programs around the country. Mary enjoys general Pediatrics and urgent care.
Her hobbies include gardening, ranching and her dogs. She continues to parent her 5 children, all now grown and living on their own. Dr. Mary and Dr. Richard adopted 3 of their 5 children and have a wealth of knowledge and experience parenting children who have suffered abandonment and loss of trust in adults, as all of their adopted children were older, ages 4,5, and 7. The last two are siblings adopted from an orphanage in India. So she also has much experience in cross cultural adoption as she home schooled them both until they could speak English well. If parenting your child has been a challenge, Dr. Mary has probably been through the same thing and can personally relate. Dr. Mary and Richard can provide insight into parenting the special needs child that can only be gained by parenting several themselves.
